Family Affair: The 411

Family Affair

There’s nothing better than finding that diamond in the rough. When you usually think about streetwear boutiques, I bet you think about cities like New York, Los Angeles, or even Miami. But very few people think about Denver, CO as a locale for a streetwear boutique. Well I’m here to tell you that Denver is not only home to a couple of these boutiques, but it’s home to the best. Out of all my travels, and all the shops and boutiques I’ve been to, Family Affair is that lustrous diamond that I’ve been searching for. It has been, ever since I set foot inside, my favorite shop.

Store owner, Jason Ngo, opened the store in hopes of creating a place that’s not like the conventional shops you see everywhere else. Family Affair is more than just a place to buy clothes. It’s a place where you can feel like family. A place that you can call “home.” Hospitality is what Family Affair offers most. And what’s more hospitable than a hair salon? Family Affair also has a full service hair salon that exclusively uses Bumble and bumble brand hair products. They offer a wide variety of services for both men and women, ranging from simple haircuts, to highlights, to whatever else is needed to get you looking your best. And when you’re done getting your top done, why not pick something to go on your feet? Family Affair is also a consignment store that sells 100% authentic, rare, DS/VNDS kicks. The finds there are top notch and are always fresh. Family Affair truly is your one stop shop for all you need to get in, look crisp, and get out to take on the world with your tight, new steez.

But wait… Although your trip to Family Affair has made you fresh and clean, who says you have to leave? Family Affair is not only a consignment store with a full service hair salon, but it’s also a venue. Why go anywhere else when the party’s right here? Family Affair holds numerous events right there in the store, from release parties, to art shows, to fashion shows. There’s always something happening at Family Affair that will be regretted by all who didn’t attend. The most fun you’ll ever have in a store ever.

There’s something for everyone at Family Affair. The crew will do whatever it takes to make you feel right at home. No cold sales reps, no “buy something, or get out” vibe, no negativity, only family. You can expect a lot from Family Affair, because they offer a lot. You’ll always leave with something, even if you didn’t buy anything. That’s why Family Affair is the best in my book. If you’re ever in the Denver area, be sure to drop by. You’ll discover that you’ve had family you never knew about.

eCapCity.com/Cap City

eCapCity.comCap City

Just west of New York City, we have West New York, New Jersey. (Clever name…) Although West New York’s not as exciting as it’s actual New York brother to the east, this city still has one place worth visiting. West New York’s diamond in the rough is Cap City, and when I say “worth visiting,” I mean it. Shelves upon shelves of exclusive New Era caps ranging from Cap City exclusive colorways to Cap City exclusive designs. If you want to put it on for your team, there’s almost no team Cap City doesn’t have in divisions you would have never thought of being on a New Era. The selection is too intense for me to describe, so shop or surf on over to Cap City to get the full effect of what I’m talking about.Cap CityWebsite/Online Shop: ecapcity.com

Covert Skate Shop/Beta

Covert Skate ShopBeta
Covert and Beta act as two of Orlando’s major sources of all things skate and urban. Covert being the skate shop, and Beta being the streetwear shop. These sibling stores are located right next to each other for convenient one stop shopping for urban skater fashionistas. Covert carries a wide variety of skate brand caps, more specifically Diamond Supply Co. Beta’s cap selection is pretty small compared to Covert, but the few that they do sell are pretty uncommon around the Orlando area. Give these stores a visit if you’re ever in Orlando.

Bodega

Bodega
Bodega
is one trip of a boutique. Bostonians “in the know” know where to go for great tees, hoodies, kicks, and of course, caps, which include their exclusive Bodega New Eras. The real question is do YOU know? I don’t want to give too much away about this store because nobody told me anything about it before I visited, and it made my experience there just that much better. You’ll see what I’m talking about if you ever pay Bodega a visit. All I can tell you is good luck finding the place. ;D Happy hunting.BodegaWebsite: bdgastore.com

Leilow

Leilow

Honolulu is a beautiful city. Everything about it is beautiful. The beaches, the women, the Japanese women, the Samoan women, the Fillipino women, the other Asian descended women, and the caps. That’s all thanks to Leilow. Their exclusive Leilow New Eras are some of the most original I’ve ever seen. Not only in the designs, but also the material used. What more could you expect when you have fashion mastermind and owner of Leilow, Jules Gayton, behind the designing. Judging from his blog, there’s nothing this man doesn’t know about design and travel. It’s safe to say this man knows a lot about the industry. You can see it in every Leilow fitted and graphic tee. You can also see it by looking at who the man collabs with. But don’t take my word for it… Visit the store and see for yourself.LeilowWebsite: leilow.com

40 Degrees/Sports Caps and Hats

40 Degrees
Every once in a while, when wandering around in a city, you usually tend to find that diamond in the rough. One day as I was meandering down Philly’s own South Street, I came across this store. On the window were posters galore with the New Era flag logo and the price $17.99. Of course I had to check it out. The store is FILLED with tons of different kinds of New Eras, from MLB to fashion. The prices couldn’t have been any better. Because they don’t have a website, it’s hard for me to tell you what they got in store. But I will say that I’m almost positive you’ll be able to find at least ONE cap you’ve been looking for, or even one you never knew existed but want anyways. If you’re ever in Philly, be SURE to check these guys out.

By the way, a little FYI. I called the store recently and asked if I had called “40 Degrees.” The dude didn’t seem to know what I was talking about. So I think they changed their name to “Sports Caps and Hats.”40 Degrees/Sports Caps and Hats storefrontAddress:
