Just in from Wip! This is the first cap from the Fundraiser Series line from Wip. The Fundraiser Series is a line which the Wip team has dedicated to donate a percentage of their proceeds to go towards different relief efforts and community programs.
Inspiration of this piece came from the devastation of Typhoon Ondoy (western name Kitsiana). Manila was flooded with 36 inches of rain in a span of two days. The people of Manila helped their affected neighbors during a time of desperation. Months later disaster struck the nation of Haiti and the Wip team decided to fast track this project. The look of this piece was inspired by sacks of rice, which are common relief donations during times of catastrophe.

The MNL Rice cap has a very clean look of beige and white. It uses a beige acrylic weave that gives the cap a very nice texture to complement the subtle colorway. The textile is quite breathable while the classic MNL Logo and the Flagship Logo are in crisp white. The under bill of the cap features a quote by Tony Meloto, founder of Gawad Kalinga Foundation to which the proceeds of the cap are going to. The quote states, “Rise as a nation help ourselves, dream our own dreams, care for those among our people who have lost their capacity to dream.” done in an elegant white script.
Wip is having a volunteer build event on May 1, 2010 in Manila followed by a pre-sale session at Commune MNL. This cap will only be available after the pre-sale at
www.wipcaps.com after the launch. The first run is limited to 100 pieces and proceeds will go to the GK fund.

The sexiest pop-up shop on wheels is making a guest appearace at The Maloof Money Cup. And with it, comes Primitive‘s new summer T-shirt line. As you can see there’ll be a whole lot more than tees being sold. (I’m drooling over the fitteds.) If that’s not enough to get your ass over there, then maybe an autograph from Paul Rodriguez (P-Rod) will be. He’s signing autographs on July 11th at the fairgrounds at booth 46 from 12pm – 1pm. If you plan on making it out there, be sure to have fun. And tell P-Rod I said “hi.” And get me a fitted please…
