Overview: This is a very… very special collab. The kingpins over at Crooks and Castles have done something “for the greater good.” Commonwealth and Crooks have teamed up to bring you these two brand new 59Fifties. The front “C” logo is a combination of Commonwealth’s “C” logo with Crook’s “Chain C” logo. Fully Laced preview: Fully Laced x New Era – “Fully Laced” New Era 59Fifty (Black/Green colorway; Unknown drop date)

Involvement: Fully Laced x New Era
Type of cap: Fitted
Colorway: (Black/Green)
Drop date: Unknown
Overview: Wiz Khalifa has been seen with this Fully Laced New Era 59Fifty that’s so rare his fans would think that Fully Laced made this cap just for him. While that WAS the case a while ago, the Fully Laced blog has stated that the cap will be dropping for the public soon. A specific date would have been nice, but all we got were the words “next week.” So I guess all we gotta do is keep an eye out and let Wiz have his moment with his one of a kind cap. Cause it won’t be one of a kind for long. Keep an eye out…

WIP Caps preview: “MNL Rice” (Drops Saturday, May 1st) -AND- “The Build” (Starts 10am – 2pm)

Just in from Wip! This is the first cap from the Fundraiser Series line from Wip. The Fundraiser Series is a line which the Wip team has dedicated to donate a percentage of their proceeds to go towards different relief efforts and community programs.

Inspiration of this piece came from the devastation of Typhoon Ondoy (western name Kitsiana). Manila was flooded with 36 inches of rain in a span of two days.  The people of Manila helped their affected neighbors during a time of desperation. Months later disaster struck the nation of Haiti and the Wip team decided to fast track this project. The look of this piece was inspired by sacks of rice, which are common relief donations during times of catastrophe.

The MNL Rice cap has a very clean look of beige and white. It uses a beige acrylic weave that gives the cap a very nice texture to complement the subtle colorway. The textile is quite breathable while the classic MNL Logo and the Flagship Logo are in crisp white. The under bill of the cap features a quote by Tony Meloto, founder of Gawad Kalinga Foundation to which the proceeds of the cap are going to. The quote states, “Rise as a nation help ourselves, dream our own dreams, care for those among our people who have lost their capacity to dream.”  done in an elegant white script.

Wip is having a volunteer build event on May 1, 2010 in Manila followed by a pre-sale session at Commune MNL. This cap will only be available after the pre-sale at www.wipcaps.com after the launch.  The first run is limited to 100 pieces and proceeds will go to the GK fund.

Kicks Hawaii preview: Kicks Hawaii Guam x New Era – “Esta” (4 colorways; Drops Saturday, March 6th)

Kicks Hawaii Guam, Kicks Hawaii‘s “little brother” as they like to call it, has come out with their very first 59Fifty cap. For their very first cap, Kicks/HI Guam decided to go with a local colloquialism to express the love they have for their native land. Kicks Hawaii goes into a little more detal about what it means.

“Esta” (‘sta) : a widely used Chamorro term translated: “Okay”. Its used to conclude any conversation with good friends and family-usually, followed with the infamous “Okay” hand gesture (thumb & Index forming “O” with 3 fingers up). “Esta” is an equivalent to: “shoots”, “Aloha”, “Yup”, “Got it”, “Laters” and/or “Goodbye”.

Come Saturday, SHOP by Kicks Hawaii Makaloa to grab either one of these fine colorways. ESTA!!!
